National Day of Discernment 2019
My first day at Cursillo’s Day of Discernment
As we arrived at Noddfa there was a feeling —this is going to be a lovely time!
The joy of a friendly face as we were greeted by other members of Cursillo— and also the lovely nuns who run Noddfa. What an ideal setting, A place of Spiritual retreats and a place where Prayer is the Anchor of our Faith.
As with all good times we had our Lunch—we laughed, we talked, we prayed and we sought God’s loving embrace. The words of comfort spoken to heart and mind, Biblical truths we know and trust. The special time of hearing prayers and questions being answered from the heart!. There is nothing more beautiful than being in a sacred place with God’s people. The whole day was one of prayer —and speaking the precious word of God, of knowing you were in the right place at the right time. The blessings of Mass.
The chapel was our Altar of prayer— we met the Risen Christ in there. The word was spoken and yet felt, we heard and yet saw, how powerful is the Presence of the loving God, when His people come together to Worship.—
As the day of discernment moved forward, He took over things The Holy Spirit—took charge plans changed, words changed, prayers were heard, our hearts were led, and we danced to God’s symphony of love.
For many years, annual gatherings were organised centrally. Being conscious that there is so much talent in our Diocesan Cursillos it was agreed that, in future, a Diocese would lead these events in rotation.
The advantage being that, whilst recognising the talents of our own Diocese, we appreciate the need to be ‘Nationally minded’ Each diocese adheres to the recognised Cursillo programme but with their own particular ‘nuance’ upon their joy in sharing the 3 day experience but together we achieve so much more.
This year has seen Liverpool Archdiocese Cursilo leading both the National Ultreya and last week two days of Discernment at St Josephs, Freshfields, and what a joyous event it was.
The team led by Joanne assisted by Bernard, Georgie, Jenny, Bethan and Debbie made this a very special event. What a joy it was to hear lovely and inspirational presentations by two new members, Bethan and Debbie. The spiritual side was led by our very Special Canon Michael and Rosary, Mass; Adoration drew us ever closer to Christ.
The social was a relaxing opportunity for us to share our experiences and was nicely concluded by Bethan who had us singing, dancing and clapping hands.
Venue was very good and food, as always, substantial and the sisters gave us a warm welcome.
It was a joy that some other people attending the centre joined us in our worship and this enhanced the richness of the occasion.
Thank you, Liverpool for leading the two days.
Next year it will be the turn of Shrewsbury and I feel sure they will build upon the success of these lovely two days.
